The installation of household photovoltaic systems in North Korea has surged!
According to foreign media reports, North Korean households have installed about 2.88 million solar modules. North Korean sources say there has been a surge in personal solar installations as North Korean citizens look to become self-sufficient due to a "severe shortage of state-supplied electricity". Martyn Williams, a senior fellow at the Stimson Center think tank in Washington, said North Korea had claimed to have been using solar cells to assemble solar modules, but it was unclear whether the cells were locally made or imported.
