New Italian proposal: 65% of electricity generation from renewable sources by 2030
In a new proposal for the National Integrated Plan for Energy and Climate (PNIEC) submitted to the EU over the weekend, the Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) stated that Italy plans to meet 40% of its total energy needs and 65% of its consumption by the end of this century. Electricity comes from renewable sources. Italy's rooftop solar market has more than doubled in the last year thanks to favorable policies. The Italian government has simplified the application process and provided more than $200 million in funding for rooftop PV deployment in early 2022.
