NREL: Over 60TW PV modules needed to meet 2050 decarbonization target
A recent study conducted by researchers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) found that a cumulative total of 63.4 TW of photovoltaic systems would need to be installed worldwide to achieve complete decarbonization of the global electricity system using photovoltaic systems by 2050. According to NREL, the efficiency of series-connected PV cells and micro PV modules is as high as 31.25%.
