U.S. renewable energy subsidies hit $15.6 billion a year
Subsidies to renewable energy producers in the United States more than doubled between 2016 and 2022, accounting for nearly half of all federal energy-related support over the same period, according to a recent report by the U.S. government. Renewable energy subsidies jumped from $7.4 billion in fiscal year 2016 to $15.6 billion in fiscal year 2022, according to the Energy Information Administration's Federal Energy Financial Interventions and Subsidies Report.
